PLAYING CARD CASE
























MATERIALS:
Worsted weight yarn approximately 1 oz
I crochet hook
Yarn needle
5/8 inch button, Velcro or a snap for closure

INSTRUCTIONS:
Ch 10

ROUND 1: Make 2 sc in 2nd chain from hook, sc in each chain (7) to last chain, working over yarn tail for remainder of this round, 3 sc in last ch, work in opposite side of starting chain and sc in each of 8 chain stitches. DO NOT join rounds. [20 sc]

ROUND 2: 2 sc in first sc of round 1, sc in next 9 sts, 2 sc in center st of 3 sc group, sc in 9 sts. [22 sc]

ROUNDS 3-14: Sc in each sc around. [22 sc]

ROUND 15: Insert deck of playing cards into bag. The 14th round should come very near the top of the cards. Mark the st at the right back corner of deck. Remove cards and sc around until 1 st before marked st. Slip stitch in that st and marked st. Ch 1, turn.


SNAP OR VELCRO FLAP: Worked over 9 sts

Row 1: Sc in 2 slip stitches, sc in 7 sc. Ch 1, turn. (9 sc)

Rows 2-8:
Sc in 9 sc. Ch 1, turn. (9 sc)

Row 9:
Sc dec in first 2 sts, sc in 5 sts, sc dec in last 2 sts. Ch 1, turn. (7 sc)

Row 10:
Sc dec in first 2 sts, sc in 3 sts, sc dec in last 2 sts. Ch 1, turn. (5 sc)

Row 11: Sc dec in first 2 sts, sc in 1 st, sc dec in last 2 sts. Ch 1, turn. (3 sc)

Row 12: Dec 2 sc in next 3 sc as follows: Draw up a loop in each of next 3 sts, yo, draw through all 4 loops on hook. Fasten off. Weave in ends.

Sew snap or Velcro on flap and case for closure.

BUTTON FLAP: Worked over 9 sts

Row 1: Sc in 2 slip stitches, 7 sc. Ch 1, turn. (9 sc)

Rows 2-8:
Sc in 9 sc. Ch 1, turn. (9 sc)

Row 9:
Sc dec in first 2 sts, sc in 2 sts, ch 1 (counts as a sc), skip 1 sc, sc in 2 sts, sc dec in last 2 sts. Ch 1, turn. (7 sc)

Row 10:
Sc dec in first 2 sts, sc in 1 st, sc over ch 1, sc in 1 st, sc dec in last 2 sts. Ch 1, turn. (5 sc)

Row 11:
Sc dec in first 2 sts, sc in 1 st, sc dec in last 2 sts. Ch 1, turn. (3 sc)

Row 12:
Dec 2 sc over next 3 sc as follows: Draw up a loop in each of next 3 sts, yo, draw through all 4 loops on hook. Fasten off. Weave in ends.

Sew button under buttonhole.

LARGER DOLL'S SLEEP SACK WITH FLOWER EMBELLISHMENT


SIZE: Fits 12 to 15 inch baby doll

GAUGE: unimportant

MATERIALS:
Worsted weight yarn approximately 3 ounces
Small amount of worsted weight yarn in contrasting color for flower
I (5.5 mm) Crochet hook
2 approximately ¾ inch buttons
Tapestry needle

NOTES:
1. Read the pattern all the way through before beginning.
2. Pull slipstitches tight unless instructed not to.
3. Finished measurements approximately 15 inch circumference and 12 length.
4. Yarn in photo is Red Heart Super Saver Melonberry.

INSTRUCTIONS:
Round 1:
Ch 3, (do not count beginning chains as first dc from now on) 12 dc in the 3rd ch from hook. Join with a slipstitch in first dc. (12 sts)

Round 2: Ch 2, 2 dc in each st. Join with a slipstitch in first dc. (24 sts)

Round 3: Ch 2, dc in 2 sts, *dc in 1 st, 2 dc in next st, repeat from * around. Join with a slipstitch in first dc. (35 sts)

Round 4: Ch 1, *sc in 1 st, hdc in 2 sts, dc in 1 st, hdc in 2 sts, sc in 1 st. Repeat from * around. . Join with slipstitch in first sc. (35 sts)

Round 5: Ch 1, *sc in 1 st, hdc in 2 sts, 3 dc in 1 st, hdc in 2 sts, sc in 1 st. Repeat from * around. Join with slipstitch in first sc. (45 sts)

Round 6: Ch 1, *sc in 1 st, hdc in 2 sts, dc in next st, 3 dc in 1 st, dc in next st, hdc in 2 sts, sc in 1 st. Repeat from * around. Join with slipstitch in first sc. (55 sts)

Round 7: Slipstitch in next st (don’t pull this slipstitch tight), ch 2, dc in the same st and in next 3 stitches, *3 dc in next stitch, dc in next 4 stitches, skip 2 dc, dc in 4 sts. Repeat from * around. End round with 3 dc in next stitch, dc in next 4 stitches. Join with slipstitch in first dc. (55 sts)

Rounds 8-18: Slipstitch in next st (don’t pull this slipstitch tight), ch 2, dc in the same st and in next 3 stitches, *3 dc in next stitch, dc in next 4 stitches, skip 2 dc, dc in 4 sts. Repeat from * around. End round with 3 dc in next stitch, dc in next 4 stitches. Join with slipstitch in first dc. (55 sts)

Round 19: Slipstitch in next st (don’t pull this slipstitch tight), ch 1, sc in same stitch and next 3 sts. *Sc, ch 2, sc in next st, sc in 4 sts, skip 2 dc, sc in 4 sts. Repeat from * around. End round with sc, ch 2, sc in next st, sc in 4 sts. Join with slipstitch in first sc.

Fasten off and weave in ends.

FLOWER:
With I hook and contrasting yarn. Ch 4, slipstitch in 4th ch from hook to form ring.

Round 1: Ch 1, *sc, ch 1. Repeat from * 7 times. Join with a slipstitch in first sc. (8 sc, 8 ch 1 sp)

Round 2: *Ch 1, 3 dc in ch 1 sp, ch 1, slipstitch in sc. Repeat around. (8 petals)

Fasten off.

Sew flower to sleep sack sandwiching flower and sleep sack between the 2 buttons.

ROSY EARFLAP CAP

ROSY EARFLAP CAP

MATERIALS:
Soft Worsted weight yarn, approximately 3 ounces adult and 2.5 ounces kid’s
Size N hook (9.00mm) crochet hook
Size K (6.5 mm) hook
Yarn needle

NOTES:
1. Read instructions through before beginning.
2. Hat is worked holding 2 strands of yarn at the same time throughout. For best results be sure to use a soft worsted weight. Cap in photo was crocheted using Simply Soft.
3. Beginning chain 2 does not count as a stitch.
4. Pull slipstitch tight so that it nearly disappears.

SIZE: Woman’s average 21 inch

INSTRUCTIONS:
Ch 4, join with a slipstitch to form a ring

Round 1: Ch 2 (remember does not count as a dc), work 10 dc in the ring. Join with a slipstitch in the top of first dc. (10 dc)

Round 2: Ch 2, 2 dc in same st as join, *2 dc in next st, repeat from * around. Join with a slipstitch in the top of first dc. (20 dc)

Round 3: Ch 2, 2 dc in same st as join, *dc in next st, 2 dc in next st, repeat from * around. End with dc in last st. Join with a slipstitch in the top of first dc. (30 dc)

Round 4: Ch 2, dc in same st as join, *2 dc in next st, dc in next 2 sts, repeat from * around. End with dc in last st. Join with a slipstitch in the top of first dc. (40 dc)

Round 5-8: Ch 2, dc in each st around, join with a slipstitch in the top of first dc. (40 dc)

Round 9: Ch 1(does not count as an hdc), hdc in each st around. Join with a slipstitch in top of first hdc. (40 hdc).

EARFLAP:
Row 1: Ch 1, hdc in same st as join, hdc next 7 sts. (8 hdc)

Row 2: Ch 2. turn, dc dec over 2 sts, dc in next 4 st, dc dec over last 2 sts. (6 dc)

Row 3: Ch 2, turn, dc dec over 2 st, dc in next 2 sts, dc dec over last 2 st (4 dc)

Row 4: Ch 2, turn, dc dec over 2 sts, twice. (2 dc)

Row 5: Ch 2, turn, dc dec over last 2 sts. Do not fasten off.

TIE:
Ch 21, slipstitch up chain.

Fasten off, weave in end.

SECOND EARFLAP:

Working on the right side, skip 7 st from first earflap for the back of hat, attach yarn with a slipstitch in the 8th st. Complete the same as the other ear flap. Work the first row over the beginning tail.



SMALL SIZE: Kid’s 18 inch

Ch 4, join with a slipstitch to form a ring

Round 1: Ch 2, work 10 dc in the ring. Join with a slipstitch in the top of first dc. (10 sts)

Round 2: Ch 2, 2 dc in same st as join, *2 dc in next st, repeat from * around. Join with a slipstitch in the top of first dc. (20 sts)

Round 3: Ch 2, 2 dc in same st as join, *dc in next st, 2 dc in next st, repeat from * around. End with dc in last st. Join with a slipstitch in the top of first dc. (30 dc)

Round 4: Ch 2, dc in next 5 sts, *2 dc in next st, dc in next 5 sts, repeat from * around ending with 2 dc in last st. Join with a slipstitch in the top of first dc. (35 sts)

Round 5-7: Ch 2, dc in each st around, join with a slipstitch in the top of first dc. (35 sts)

Round 8: Ch 1 (does not count as an hdc), hdc in each st around. Join with a slipstitch in top of first dc. (35 sts)

Don’t fasten off

EARFLAP:
Row 1: Ch 1, hdc in next 6 st. (6 hdc)

Row 2: Ch 2, turn, dc dec over next 2 sts, dc in next 2 sts, dc dec over next 2 sts. (4 dc)

Row 3: Ch 2, turn, dc dec over next 2 sts, twice. (2 dc)

Row 4: Ch 2, turn, dc dec over last 2 sts.

Do not fasten off.

TIE:
Ch 16, slipstitch up chain.

Fasten off, weave in end.

SECOND EARFLAP:
Working on the right side, skip 6 st from first earflap for the back of hat, attach yarn with a slipstitch in 7th st. Complete the same as the other ear flap. Work the first row over the beginning tail.


FLOWER: (make 2)
With K hook and single strand of yarn. Ch 4, slipstitch in 4th ch from hook to form ring.

Round 1: Ch 1, *sc, ch 1. Repeat from * 7 times. Join with a slipstitch in first sc. (8 sc, 8 ch 1 sp)

Round 2: *Ch 1, 3 dc in ch 1 sp, ch 1, slipstitch in sc. Repeat around. (8 petals)

Fasten off leaving 10 inch tail. Use tail to sew flower to earflap.

ITS JUST A BEANIE

I've been crocheting the It's Just a Triangle Shawl to send to the elders at Pine Ridge Reservation. When I finished the most recent one I thought why not crochet a matching cap, after all it's really cold there. That was the inspiration for this cap.



SIZE: Woman’s average (20-22 inches)

MATERIALS:
Worsted weight yarn, approximately 2.5 ounces
US size J (6.0 mm) crochet hook

GAUGE: 5 dc = 2 inches

NOTES:
1. Read instructions all the way through before beginning.
2. Beanie in photo made with Caron One Pound Claret and Red Heart Super Saver Marrakesh
3. Beanie in photo the contrast rounds were worked on rounds 9, 11 and 13.
4. To make cap longer or shorter work more or less rounds 8-14.

5. To make a child's version only increase to 42 stitches. You could also try using your I (5.5 mm) hook.

Chain 4 and join to form a loop.

ROUND 1: Ch 3, 11 dc in loop. Join with a slipstitch in top of ch 3. Do not pull this slipstitch tight. Slipstitch in the space between the ch 3 and first true dc. Pull this slipstitch tight. (12 sts)

ROUND 2: Ch 3, dc in same sp. *Dc in next sp, 2 dc in next sp, repeat from * around. Dc in last sp. Join with a slipstitch in top of ch 3. Do not pull this slipstitch tight. Slipstitch in the space between the ch 3 and first true dc. Pull this slipstitch tight. (18 sts)

ROUND 3: Ch 3, dc in same sp. *Dc in next 2 sps, 2 dc in next sp, repeat from * around. Dc in last 2 sps. Join with a slipstitch in top of ch 3. Do not pull this slipstitch tight. Slipstitch in the space between the ch 3 and first true dc. Pull this slipstitch tight. (24 sts)

ROUND 4: Ch 3, dc in same sp. *Dc in next 3 sps, 2 dc in next sp, repeat from * around. Dc in last 3 sps. Join with a slipstitch in top of ch 3. Do not pull this slipstitch tight. Slipstitch in the space between the ch 3 and first true dc. Pull this slipstitch tight. (30 sts)

ROUND 5: Ch 3, dc in same sp. *Dc in next 4 sps, 2 dc in next sp, repeat from * around. Dc in last 4 sps. Join with a slipstitch in top of ch 3. Do not pull this slipstitch tight. Slipstitch in the space between the ch 3 and first true dc. Pull this slipstitch tight. (36 sts)

ROUND 6: Ch 3, dc in same sp. *Dc in next 5 sps, 2 dc in next sp, repeat from * around. Dc in last 5 sps. Join with a slipstitch in top of ch 3. Do not pull this slipstitch tight. Slipstitch in the space between the ch 3 and first true dc. Pull this slipstitch tight. (42 sts)

ROUND 7: Ch 3, dc in same sp. *Dc in next 6 sps, 2 dc in next sp, repeat from * around. Dc in last 6 sps. Join with a slipstitch in top of ch 3. Do not pull this slipstitch tight. Slipstitch in the space between the ch 3 and first true dc. DO NOT Pull this slipstitch tight. (48 sts)

ROUNDS 8-14: Ch 3, dc in each sp. Join with a slipstitch in top of ch 3. Do not pull this slipstitch tight. Slipstitch in the space between the ch 3 and first true dc. DO NOT Pull this slipstitch tight. (48 sts)

Try on cap and if it seems too large work rounds 15-18 with I (5.5 mm) hook.

ROUND 15: Ch 1, sc in each sp. Join with a slipstitch in first sc. Pull this slipstitch tight. (48 sts)

ROUNDS 16-18: Ch 1, sc in each st. Join with a slipstitch in first sc. Pull this slipstitch tight. (48 sts)
