HALLOWEEN CANDY CORN BUNTING

FLAG SIZE:  Approximately 5 inches across by 5 inches long

MATERIALS:
Small amounts of Red Heart Super Saver in colors of your choice
US I (5.5 mm) crochet hook
Tapestry needle

NOTES:
  1. Read instructions all the way through before beginning.
  2. Each pennant uses about 1/3 ounce total.
  3. I made 12 flags for my bunting, but you can make it as short or long as you like.
  4. The bunting in the photo is Pumpkin, White and Pale Yellow  Red Heart Super Saver.
  5. As you fasten off each color weave the tail back and forth through about 5 of the  back loops of the row just finished.  After you complete the next row snip off the remaining end.

  6. FLAG:
    With white ch 2.

Row 1: Work 2 sc in 2nd ch from hook.  (2 sts)

Row 2 (right side):  Ch 1, turn, sc in each st.  (2 sts)

Row 3: Ch 1, turn, 2 sc in each st.  (4 sts)

Row 4: Ch 1, turn, sc in each st. (4 sts)

Fasten off and weave tail through a few back loops of row 4 stitches.

    Change to orange.

Row 5: Turn, join yarn with a sc and working over the tail sc in each st. (4 sts)

Row 6: Ch 1, turn, 2 sc in first st, sc in 2 sts, 2 sc in last st, (6 sts)

Rows 7-8: Ch 1, turn, sc in each st. (6 sts)

Row 9: Ch 1, turn, 2 sc in first st, sc in 4 sts, 2 sc in last st, (8 sts)

Rows 10-11: Ch 1, turn, sc in each st. (8 sts)

Row 12: Ch 1, turn, 2 sc in first st, sc in 6 sts, 2 sc in last st, (10 sts)

Rows 13-14: Ch 1, turn, sc in each st. (10 sts)

Row 15: Ch 1, turn, 2 sc in first st, sc in 8 sts, 2 sc in last st, (12 sts)

Fasten off and weave tail through a few back loops of row 15 stitches.

    Change to yellow.

Row 16: Turn, join yarn with a sc and working over the tail sc in each st. (12 sts)

Row 17: Ch 1, turn, sc in each st. (12 sts)

Row 18: Ch 1, turn, 2 sc in first st, sc in 10 sts, 2 sc in last st, (14 sts)

Row 19: Ch 1, turn, sc in each st. (14 sts)

    Fasten off.

Weave in ends (only ends you need to weave in is the white points).

    TOP BAND:
Row 1:  With yellow, ch 30 .  Working on the wrong side of first pennant sc across the top sts.  Repeat with remaining pennants.

Measure your strip of flags to see if it is long enough to hang where you want it.  If not decide how many more flags you need before continuing.

When you have all the flags you need, ch 30 and fasten off.

Row 2:  With orange, join to last yellow st with a sc, sc in each ch and each sc  and fasten off.

I made a small tassel on the ends of the top band by tying the orange and yellow yarns in a square knot.  Then cutting about 8 inch length of orange and yellow yarns.  Fold them in half  and with the crochet hook pull through from the back side.  Put all the ends through the loops (including the tails from the top band) and pull tight and trim evenly.

    Weave in ends.
